Tinactin Antifungal Cream is prescribed for fungal skin diseases generally known as ringworm (tinea). It is used to treat athlete's foot or tinea pedis, "jock itch" (tinea cruris) and a fungus infection of the entire body (tinea corporis), and a skin infection that causes yellow- or brown-colored skin eruptions (tinea versicolor). It is also prescribed for yeast infections of the skin caused by candida fungus (cutaneous candidiasis).
Tinactin Antifungal Cream is used for the treatment, prevention and relieves of yeast (fungus) infections of the vagina and treatment of vaginal candida (yeast) infections.
Tinactin Antifungal Cream is also used for the treatment, prevention and relieves the itching and burning symptoms that are sometimes present with yeast or fungus infections.

Tinactin Antifungal Cream works by preventing fungus from growing. Tinactin Antifungal Cream kills fungi by interfering with their cell membranes. It works by inhibiting the production of a chemical called ergosterol, which is a component of the fungal cell membrane. Damage to this membrane cannot be repaired and this interferes with the fungal cell's ability to reproduce, hence the infection is controlled. Tinactin Antifungal Cream is used in the treatment of fungal infections of the skin such as ringworm or tinea, athlete's foot and fungal nappy rash and fungal infections of the genital area. Tinactin Antifungal Cream also has some activity against certain strains of bacterial infections.
